Jimmy Page - Return to the Garden NY 1983 - ARM-TD-001
The Ronnie Lane Appeal for ARMS charity shows in America were limited to nine shows. It started in Dallas on November 28th 1983, then went to San Francisco, Los Angeles and the final two shows at Madison Square Garden in NYC on December 8th & 9th. These shows featured guitar legends, Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck and Led Zeppelin’s Jimmy Page. This was Page’s first return to the spotlight since John Bonham’s death in September 1980 and break up of Led Zeppelin.
This shot by Tony Defilippis embodies what the image is referred to as “The Return to the Garden” December 8th, 1983. This is probably the best post-Led Zeppelin picture of Jimmy Page ever taken, so much so that Jimmy featured it in his first ever book “Jimmy Page By Jimmy Page” published by Genesis Publications in 2010.
The “Return to the Garden” got it’s name because is was literally Jimmy’s first time back to Madison Square Garden since Led Zeppelin played there in June 1977. This photo was taken at the end of "Stairway To Heaven" while Jimmy is basking in the glory of the moment, owning the achievement!
